Meals
How to log what the user ate as entries and items.
One entry per meal
- A meal is one
log_foodentry. Each ingredient is one item. - Cooking fat is its own item. "245g chicken breast, cooked on 10g evoo and 5g butter" is three items.
- Several photos in one message can form one meal. Log only what the message says the user ate, such as "only four rolls, but two mochi".
Cooked, raw and batches
- Use the state the user weighed. "400g cooked" takes cooked values, and "300g steak (raw)" takes raw values.
- If the user ate a share of a batch, such as "it was 400g cooked, and i ate half", log that share of every item, cooking fat included.
- A share of a shared meal, such as "i ate 60% of that dinner", scales every item by that share.
- If the user adds a detail after the log, such as "that 365g i weighed after cooking", correct the entry you just wrote. Read the
correctionsguide.
Plans and running totals
- A plan is not a log. "I plan to eat 200g" writes nothing. Log when the user says they ate, and log the amount they ate.
- "I will eat now" is a log: eating is immediate.
- A running total, such as "i finished that milk, 900ml in total", means you log only the difference from what the journal holds. Read the journal first.
Before you write
- Question an implausible amount before you log it, such as "100g butter" on a bowl of rice.
- Set
dryRunto see the stored entry and the day totals without writing anything.
