Terms of service
Effective 7 October 2026.
These terms apply when you use Freecals: the website at freecals.com, the MCP server at mcp.freecals.com, and the Freecals plugin in AI apps. By using Freecals, you agree to these terms. The privacy policy explains what Freecals does with your data.
Who runs Freecals
Andrew Pashynnyk publishes and runs Freecals as an individual, not as a company. In these terms, "we" means Andrew Pashynnyk. You can reach us at support@freecals.com.
What Freecals does
- Freecals keeps a food journal for you: meals with calories and nutrients, saved foods, weigh-ins, your goals and your preferences.
- Your AI app, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Codex, does the estimating. It reads your words or photos, works out the nutrition, and sends the result to Freecals. Freecals stores what the app sends.
- Freecals itself runs no AI model and has no access to your chat history.
Freecals is free
- Freecals has no paid plans, no ads and no in-app purchases.
Not medical advice
- Freecals is a record-keeping tool. It does not give medical, nutritional or dietary advice.
- Calorie and nutrient values are estimates by your AI app. They can be wrong. Check values that matter to you, such as values on a food label.
- Talk to a doctor or a dietitian before you change your diet for a health reason, and before you set a goal far below your usual intake.
- Freecals does not store a daily calorie goal under 1000 kcal.
- If you have or had an eating disorder, calorie tracking can harm you. Talk to a health professional before you use Freecals.
Who can use Freecals
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. Where the law requires it, your parent or guardian must also agree that Freecals stores your health information before you use the journal.
- One account belongs to one person. Do not share your account.
Your account
- You sign in with Google. Keep your Google account secure.
- You decide which AI apps can read or write your journal, and you can disconnect them on the connected apps page.
- An API key opens your journal with the permissions that you chose for the key. Keep it secret, like a password. Delete a key that you no longer use.
- You are responsible for what you and the apps you connect do with your account.
Your journal belongs to you
- You keep all rights to what you store in Freecals.
- You give us permission to store, process and show your journal only to run Freecals for you. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
- You can export your whole journal or delete your account at any time on your account page.
Rules of use
Do not:
- try to access another person's journal or account;
- interfere with Freecals, overload it, or get around its limits or its security;
- use Freecals for anything illegal;
- copy or resell Freecals as a service.
If you find a security problem, tell us at support@freecals.com and give us time to fix it before you make it public.
Apps from other companies
Your AI app, Google sign-in and the other services that you connect have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control those services, and we are not responsible for what they do.
Changes and the end of the service
- We can change or stop Freecals or any of its features.
- Before we shut Freecals down, we give at least 30 days' notice on the website and by email, so that you can export your journal.
- We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we tell you why, unless the law does not allow it.
No warranty
Freecals is free and provided "as is". We work to keep it available and your data safe, but we do not promise that Freecals is always available, free of errors, or that its values are correct. Keep your own export if your journal matters to you.
Limitation of liability
To the extent that the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by values that your AI app estimated. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or your rights as a consumer.
Governing law
The law of Ukraine governs these terms, and the courts of Ukraine decide disputes about them. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
Changes to these terms
We publish every change on this page and update the date at the top. If a change reduces your rights, we tell you by email at least 14 days before it applies. If you keep using Freecals after a change applies, you accept the new terms. Accepting new terms never replaces a consent to store your health information that the law requires.
